Sheffield Doc Fest

Before we decided to take the plunge on Wait For Me, we put together a three minute cut of the film. We completed the short version earlier this year and began to show it around—test the waters so to speak. Needless to say, the film went over very well and we quickly moved to expand the story into a feature.

As we work, the three minute piece has taken on a life of its own. It celebrated its official world premiere last month in the centerpiece slot of the New York Film Festival. It has screened in Berlin, the Hamptons & BritDoc and next up is the Sheffield Doc Fest in England:

Wait For Me Synopsis

Wait For Me is a new documentary from the Academy Award winning director of Born Into Brothels.

In 1985, John Ewing Dreyfous, a young man from a well-to-do family took a bicycle trip across southern Europe, wandered into Bangladesh, traveled through India, and vanished while hiking in the rugged foothills of the Himalayas. He was never seen or heard from again.

Wait For Me is the story of a mother’s spiritual and emotional search for her son—a ceaseless trek, propelled by an unconditional love and an unwavering belief that he may still be alive.

A three minute cut of the film premiered at the New York Film Festival. A feature-length version is currently in production.
